Driver’s License Information

General

A Driver´s License is a legal document/instrument issued by local government agencies in the respective countries. In addition to valid identification, a Driver’s License validates eligibilty to operate a motor vehicle, on a public roadway of a given country.

Requirements vary by country and state (territory), but generally the requirements and thresholds include:

Minimum age requirements.
Minimum driving knowledge requirements.
Minimum physical capability requirements (vision).
Minimum driving skill/capacity requirements.
Required documentation and Identification.
Completion of written and road tests.

In most instances a Probationary License or Permit is granted for a temporary period (12 months to 24 months) before Official Driver´s License or Full Driver´s License is issued. First time drivers in most countries and States (territories) require a Drivers Permit or Learner´s Driver´s License, as a prerequisite to an Official Driver’s License.
